THE ARC JEFFERSON – ST. LAWRENCE’S JESSICA CARROLL WINS STATE-WIDE ART COMPETITION

October 8, 2025

The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence (www.thearcjslc.org) announced that Jessica Carroll of Heuvelton, N.Y. won first place in the alternative medium category in The Arc New York’s 2025 Annual Art Competition for her work, “Swan Dancer.” Jessica’s piece is made of clay, glitter, paint, and crystals on a wooden base. She spent over a month and a half bringing this vision to life.

“Salvador Dali once said, ‘A true artist is not one who is inspired, but one who inspires’ and Jessica is a person who encourages others while sharing the best of herself,” said Lynn Pietroski, Chief Executive Officer of The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence. “She puts thoughtful effort into any project she takes on, while advocating for her friends to achieve their goals.”

The creativity and talent of artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities from The Arc New York’s Chapters across New York State culminated in the submission of 274 works of art that the public judged in an online voting process.
