THE ARC JEFFERSON – ST. LAWRENCE FOUNDATION RECEIVES $15,000 GRANT FROM FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF WATERTOWN

The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence Foundation (www.thearcjslc.org/foundation) announced that it received a multi-year grant totaling $15,000 from First Presbyterian Church of Watertown.  The Foundation provides financial support to The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence and people with developmental disabilities supported by the agency. The grant was awarded through First Presbyterian’s Outreach Committee in support of The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence’s ongoing effort to renovate its community residences.

THE ARC JEFFERSON – ST. LAWRENCE LAUNCHES CAREER SOLUTIONS

The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence (www.thearcjslc.org) has renamed the career services division of the agency and it will become, “The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence Career Solutions” as an innovative approach to increase community work options for people supported by the agency. Career Solutions is an employment agency with a personalized approach and a commitment to assist anyone with a qualifying, documented disability to find a job.

Career Solutions

Career Solutions offers community-based employment services to people with any qualifying documented disability. The program provides participants with the support they need to obtain and maintain employment and, at the same time, functions as a personnel management resource to local area employers through specialized job matches.

Career Solutions coaches participants on the skills necessary to obtain and maintain a job in the community. Services may include financial incentives and on-site training to ensure employee and employer satisfaction. Career Solutions works with people receiving supports from ACCES-VR, OMH, and OPWDD.

THE ARC JEFFERSON – ST. LAWRENCE FOUNDATION HOSTS AUTISM ACCEPTANCE WALK

The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence Foundation (www.thearcjslc.org), is holding a walk to promote acceptance of Autism Spectrum Disorders at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at SUNY Potsdam’s Maxcy Hall in Potsdam, N.Y. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. The event will be hosted by WWNY-TV’s Jeff Cole. This year, the agency is moving the Walk from the previous September date to April as part of Autism Acceptance Month to meet requests from program participants and families.
